The ASA Technik Engineering Stage 1 kit consists of a ASA TM-12 compressor. ASA is a company based in Autenzell, Germany. The founder and managing director Christian Stöber. The history of ASA is actually quite interesting.

  • 1989: a company called Cetoni began developing a new concept that combined the pros of both supercharging and turbocharging. Cetoni was an offshoot of ZF.
  • 1992: Christian Stöber founded Automobile Spezial Anfertigung (ASA).
  • 1993: The ZF Turmat supercharger made its debut at the Frankfurt Autoshow. It was renamed Cetoni Turmat when Cetoni was sold off to a machine-tools manufacturer, Bavaria-Tech. This system looks and functions like a supercharger. It is equipped with a 1 to 15 (input to output) ratio planetary gear system, which rotates a impeller wheel made for a turbocharger unit
  • 1993 to 1996: Porsche tuners like Cartronic, TechArt and Arden all used the Cetoni Turmat system.
  • 1996: Cetoni folded due to financial difficulties.
  • 1996 to 1997: ASA bought over some of the remaining parts from Cetoni and further developed the system under ASA's branding.

ASA has its own information on the TM-12 compressor here.
